CodeHub Extension Privacy Policy Last updated: September 19, 2026 This Privacy Policy describes our policies and procedures on the collection, use, and disclosure of your information when you use the CodeHub browser extension and informs you about your privacy rights. By using the CodeHub extension, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy. 1. Interpretation and Definitions Definitions: - Extension refers to CodeHub, the open-source browser extension. - Personal Data is any information that relates to an identified or identifiable individual. - Usage Data refers to data generated by the use of the Extension. - You means the individual accessing or using the Extension. 2. Collecting and Using Your Data Types of Data Collected: A. Personal Data: - GitHub Username: Stored locally in your browser to identify your repository owner and display your profile in the Extension. - GitHub Authentication Token: Secure OAuth/access token generated during the GitHub authorization process, stored locally in your browser storage (`chrome.storage.local` / `browser.storage.local`) to authenticate commits and file uploads directly to your GitHub account. - Codeforces Handle (Optional): Stored locally in your browser to fetch and sync your public Codeforces submissions. - HackerRank challenge metadata: Public challenge pages, accepted submission code, titles, difficulty, tags, and statements are read locally in the browser. Private hiring assessments, tests, and interview pages are not synchronized. B. Problem & Submission Data: - Code submissions, problem titles, difficulty ratings, tags, and problem descriptions from supported platforms: * LeetCode (https://leetcode.com) * GeeksforGeeks (https://geeksforgeeks.org) * Codeforces (https://codeforces.com) * CodeChef (https://www.codechef.com) * NeetCode (https://neetcode.io) * HackerRank public challenges and contests (https://www.hackerrank.com) 3. How We Use Your Data We use the collected data solely to deliver the core features of the Extension: - Automatically extracting your accepted solutions and pushing them to your designated GitHub repository. - Generating markdown documentation (README.md) with difficulty and topic tags alongside your code in your GitHub repository. - Displaying real-time problem-solving analytics, difficulty breakdowns, and platform activity share on your CodeHub Dashboard and Popup. 4. Data Storage & Third-Party Services - Local Storage Only: All tokens, handles, preferences (e.g., theme), and problem statistics are saved directly on your local device via browser extension storage (`chrome.storage.local` / `browser.storage.local`). - No Proprietary Backend: CodeHub does not operate any external tracking servers, analytics databases, or intermediate servers. - GitHub API: Code submissions and repository files are transmitted directly from your browser to the official GitHub API (https://api.github.com) using your authenticated token. - Codeforces API: Public submission metadata is fetched directly from the official Codeforces API (https://codeforces.com/api) using the handle you provide. - HackerRank: Public challenge pages are read directly from HackerRank. When fullscreen mode hides the difficulty sidebar, CodeHub may request the canonical public problem URL without the fullscreen query parameter to read that metadata. This data is sent to GitHub only when you submit an accepted public challenge. - We do NOT sell, rent, monetize, or transfer your Personal Data or code submissions to any third parties or advertisers. 5. Data Retention & Deletion - You retain complete ownership and control over your data. - You can unlink your repository at any time via the Extension Dashboard or Popup, which removes repository configurations from local storage. - You can use the "Reset Stats" feature to clear locally cached problem statistics and delete `stats.json` tracking files from your GitHub repository. - Uninstalling the Extension instantly deletes all local storage data, tokens, and settings associated with CodeHub from your browser. 6. Security The security of your Personal Data is paramount. CodeHub communicates exclusively via secure HTTPS protocols with the official APIs of GitHub and supported platforms. Tokens and settings remain isolated in your browser's extension sandbox. 7. Children's Privacy Our Extension does not address anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from anyone under the age of 13. 8. Changes to this Privacy Policy We may update our Privacy Policy periodically. We will notify you of any changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this Privacy Policy and within the extension repository. 9.
